Happy Black Friday! Are you just rolling out of bed after a night of crowds and shopping? Or do you take a shop from home in the peace and quiet of your bed approach to the biggest shopping weekend of the year? I do enjoy venturing out Thanksgiving night or Black Friday morning but mostly just for the people watching. I love all the excitement in the air. But for my actual shopping I tend to stick to online sales. I’ve found in recent years though it’s very easy to lose track of your online purchases if you aren’t staying organized in what you’ve bought, where it’s from, how much it cost, and how to track its expected arrival. It’s such a busy time of year for the shipping services that delivery times can sometimes take weeks and by then I probably don’t know where the tracking number is anymore. This year I’m being proactive and I’ve set up a system in the notes section of my planner to organize all my shopping plans. Don’t lose hope if you feel like you’re behind or aren’t prepared for the weekend of deals! Grab your planner, your PopFizzPaper stickers, and start researching those sales on your phone. It’s so easy to map it all out so let’s get started!
On one side of the page I laid out space for brainstorming. I’m easily distracted by a sale sign and have been known to buy things I didn’t need and forget the things I was actually looking for so the most important part of this page to me is my wishlist. Some of these are wants, some are needs, some are for me, some are for our home. I laid it all out so that if I happen to see that item on sale I’ll remember to grab it! I made each section of the page stand out with my favorite appointment labels from PopFizzPaper. I love being able to check things off my list so I pulled out the stamps that came in the September PopFizzPaper Planner Kit. There is a little hexagon stamp on there that I thought would be so cute to check off my list with. This is completely unnecessary and you could just as easily draw your own boxes or just cross things off as you go. But I love embellishing even my lists so I went with the stamps. Next I made a list of my favorite stores from previous years. I made a short list of favorite cashback and coupon sites. I also made sure to write out anyone I still needed to pick up a gift for this time of year. Luckily I’ve got most of my shopping done but I want to keep those remaining on the list at the front my mind in case I see something I think they would like! The last section is purely for me- the sticker shops. There are so many sales, on different days, for different amounts, and almost all have a coupon code. I like having one spot to track these sales and then I can decide which ones I want to take advantage of. PopFizzPaper has 50% OFF today so you know I had to hit that up first thing in the morning!
The other side of the page is to keep an organized list of all the orders I actually end up making. To me it was most important to track if it has been received, what it is, where it’s from, how much I spent, and any order/tracking numbers. If you don’t write small you might want to leave a little extra space between each row. If your list isn’t legible then it won’t be nearly as functional for you!
The last bit I added to the page was a space at the bottom to track how much I spent. It’s not worth getting a “good deal” if you end up spending too much over the course of the weekend and put yourself farther back than if you had bought the one thing you actually needed at full price. For this I used a half box and a dollar sign.
Here’s what my brainstorming list looks like all filled in!
Now I’m all set for my weekend of shopping!
I hope I could give you some new ideas for staying organized this weekend as you are taking advantage of all the sales to shop for your family, your friends, or even yourself! Thanks so much for stopping by & happy shopping!
