One of the first crafts I ever did and mailed out was a pocket letter. After creating my first one, I was instantly hooked. I absolutely love pocket letters; to create them and to send them! So today's blog I am going to be showing you all how I create a pocket letter using the November "Colors of the Wind" Planner Kit from PopFizzPaper.

Let's just jump right into this fun activity! Below are materials that you are going to need for a full 9-pocket letter.

1-3 sheets- cardstock or design paper

1- 8.5 x 11 postbound or 3-ring album pocket protector sheet [I use The Paper Studio]

scissors, pen, glue or adhesive tape, ruler or a pre-cut pocket letter square measuring 2.5 x 3.5

Decor: stickers, sticky notes, sequins, empheria [cut outs], washi tape, etc. [Whatever you want to put into your pocket letter]

What I do first is I cut out all 9 of my squares; I used the PopFizzPaper "Colors of the Wind" design sheets. Either grab your pre-cut pocket letter square that measures 2.5 x 3.5 and trace that square over your design paper OR if you don't have a pre-cut square use your ruler to measure 2.5 x 3.5 and do that 9 times on your papers so that you end up with 9 squares.

Tip: I always put the squares into the pocket protector sleeve before I go onto the next step to make sure that it fits properly and that I didn't cut the sides too short or in case it doesn't fit and needs be trimmed down. I also use this as a pre-planning method to be able to see where I want each square to go and what I plan to do for that specific pocket.

Now the FUN and also my favorite part... Decorating! Choose your theme: I obviously went with the nature / travel theme. I love shaker pockets; I think that they are so fun and super cute. So I always start with my center pocket and 99% of the time I create a shaker pocket. I basically just threw in some sequins that matched with my card for that pocket and took a piece of washi tape to seal the top part so that no sequins would fall out. Once that was done, I start from the top left corner and work my way to the right and then onto the next row until I get to the bottom. I also really like simple yet detailed decorating but feel free to get as creative as you like.

Pocket Details:

First pocket; I added onto my gold square a PopFizzPaper sticky note as my background and PFP watercolor washi along the left side with an puffy heart sticker, a globe cut out, and an arrow cut out.

Second pocket; I cut a piece of arrow design paper to create a pocket that I filled with PopFizzPaper deco stickers and feather cut outs and at the top added a "Happiness" cut out.

Third pocket; is a movitational pocket with "Follow YOUR Arrow" using gold glitter alpha letters, a gold puffy heart sticker, arrow cut out, and PopFizzPaper feather stickers.

Fourth pocket; I added a piece of blue glitter washi to the bottom and a "and, we're off!" sticker ontop of the washi, a sun sticker and an airplane cut out.

Fifth pocket; is my shaker pocket.

Sixth pocket; is my hello pocket with a gift tag, a "hi" corkboard sticker, a PopFizzPaper feather and it's all in a little pocket that I made using a piece of design paper.

Seventh pocket; is another motivational pocket with a gold puffy heart sticker, PopFizzPaper feather stickers, puffy arrow stickers, and "Faith, Hope, Love" in gold glitter alpha stickers.

Eighth pocket; I did a washi banner at the top of the square, a piece of gold glitter washi at the bottom and with PopFizzPaper feather stickers ontop and in the middle a PFP "Colors of the Wind" sticker.

Ninth and final pocket; I did the same idea as the first pocket where I stuck a sticky note down as my background, a washi strip on the left side of the pocket, a gold puffy heart sticker, a PopFizzPaper quote sticker from the "Colors of the Wind" kit, and a cork arrow sticker that I added gold feather washi onto the bottom on the arrow for a little more dimension.

Lastly, I went through my collection to see if I may have missed any items that I wanted to have in this pocket letter and just stuck those last minute items in the pockets. And, that's it! It's not a hard craft at all. I absolutely love how this pocket letter turned out and I hope you do too!
