Hi everyone! Sabrina here to show you some easy and fun DIY back to school items for all ages. I’m going to be showing you 3 different ideas; how to take a plain notebook cover and turn it into a super cute one, how to make washi pencils and even a cute pocket that you can place inside of your notebook or keep it on the side.
Let’s make back to school and homework time at home fun! This is even a great creative outlook for kids and a fun project for you and your child to work on together. This idea is especially great for homework time because what kid wouldn’t be inspired to do their homework using cute pencils and cute notebooks that they created themselves. If you aren’t in school or have no children [in school] don’t stop reading yet because these ideas are great to use for work or for an everyday task or just for organization. So let’s jump right into this and start with the notebook!
Supplies you will need:
1- Notebook
Design Paper of your choice
1- 5x7 cardboard or thick cardstock
Pencils
Washi tape
Glue, mod podge, or adhesive tape
Scissors
*Removing the coil is optional- I removed it because at the time of the photo I wasn’t sure if I wanted to cover the coil holes with washi or paper and re-punch but keep reading to find out what I ended up doing.
First, choose your design paper for your cover once you’ve gotten that glue or add adhesive tape [like I did] and lay the cover down front side first onto your design paper. If your paper is double sided like mine make sure the side with the design that you DON’T want is the side, you are gluing down onto the front side of your cover. Cut off all the excess paper off the edges and your cover is ready to be decorated!
I just took two different shades of blue glitter washi tapes and vertically put that on the left side of the notebook cover. Then I took the other gem washi that came in the Planner Kit and put that vertically on the right side of the notebook. In the middle of the notebook I added a plastic adhesive pocket that I got from the Target Dollar Section and added one sheet of sticky note inside. If you don't have any of these pockets you can create your own by cutting a piece of design paper into any shape and adding a thin line of glue to the sides and bottom and stick it onto the cover. Decorate with some stickers; I used this quote sticker and beautiful gems from the PopFizzPaper Crystal Cove Kit. Once you are done decorating you are all done with your notebook cover!
Some of you are probably wondering “Is she going to recoil her notebook?” and the answer is “No, I am not.” I plan to use this notebook to keep inside of my bag and I don’t want the coils messing up my bag or getting caught with other coiled items in side of my purse so I am going to journal bound it with a textured string. All I did was lined up all the papers inside the front and back cover so that you can see through the holes and then start from the bottom to the top by doing an over and under technique and gluing the ends to the back of the notebook; you can even tie off at the bottom or top if you wished. Bye-bye coil you now have a journal!
Next let’s make a quick pocket that you can glue or tape inside your notebook or just keep it on the side. I am using the thick cardstock that comes in the planner kit you know the one that tells you everything that is in your kit. I am taking a piece of design paper measuring it to be the same size as the card stock and cutting it in half. Take one of those halves and glue it to the back of the cardstock covering all the wording. Grab that other half of design paper and this is where you’re going to create a pocket look; I cut my paper in an angle where I cut up diagonally to the top left corner to give that peeking affect to show the paper behind the one I am gluing on top. Once your shape is created line the back of the paper on both sides with a thin layer of glue and stay close to the edges; do the same to the bottom. Flip the side with the glue over and press it onto the cardstock. Start decorating! I added glitter washi to the bottom horizontally, and to the left side vertically. Grabbed another plastic adhesive pocket and put that onto the middle of the bottom, inserted a piece of designed sticky note and added a larger gem sticker to put onto the top of that adhesive pocket. If you want this pocket inside of your notebook all you do it glue the back of the pocket to the inside or if you want it removable just tape it down with some washi tape. And you're done!
I saved the easiest for last… washi pencils! Choose your washi tape, measure the length of from below the metal down to the where the wood grain starts. Then just lay the washi on the pencil and wrap around that’s it!
I hope you all loved these DIY back to school ideas. If you decide to create any of these we want to see them so make sure you tag @PopFizzPaper on IG and you come post to the PopFizzPaper Fans! Facebook Group!

Hello Hello Everyone! It’s Juanita and I have a fun first time project to share with you today. I have been bitten by the flipbook bug and oh buddies do I love it! I was so excited to make a flipbook and August’s Planner Kit was a great kit for inspiration. Not only were there so many ADORABLE papers, cards and washi but also we all received the brand new permanent adhesive from Tombow! And boy, did it come in handy!
I was so entirely inspired by the camera theme of this kit that I made my flipbook look like one of the cameras designed for the kit!
Now, this is my first flipbook so please be gentle… but I think it turned out pretty good. I went with a file folder design and really had a blast decking it out with all the goodies we got in our planner kits. For a full tutorial, process and walkthrough of my first flipbook feel free to watch the video below.
But here are some highlights of my favorite elements.
First, I adore these quote cards I made using the cards from the add on kit. Can you guess which on is my favorite?
Second, I really loved the cut out cameras and made a little pocket for them to hangout in. Don’t they look so happy bursting out of that pocket?
Third, I LOVED this pocket I made using the sticky notes! Plus, the permanent adhesive runner from Tombow really lives up to its name. This pocket is going nowhere! It’s all ready for washi samples, die cuts or tags and I have no worries that it’s going to fall off.
And lastly, I included a photography challenge that I found on Pinterest. It went so well with the theme and it made it possible for me to use more cutouts from the kit!
And there you have it! Please feel free to watch the video if you want to see a proper walkthrough and see how I made this flipbook but at the end of the day, I see a lot more flipbooks in my future!
Happy Crafting!

Hello Everyone! Its Juanita and I have a fun little album project to share. I had never heard of a rolodex album before but pinterest has shone me the light and I wanted to give it a whirl. Now, I don’t have an old rolodex lying around and I certainly was not ready to go out and buy one ($45, no thank you!) but I was able to find a vintage recipe organizer at my local thrift store and shazaam
rolodex album!
So, the idea is that you treat each little rolodex page as a mini album page. You have tons of room for lots of pages and my son really likes spinning them around. Heck, I like spinning it around too!
I want to share with you lovely people how I made this page.
I started with three basic paper goodies from the July Planner Kit; the anchor card, the sticky notes and the decorative stickers.
I cut the anchor card in half, grabbed some sandpaper and cut out a little island for my lighthouse and crab. See the precise placement of the lighthouse to cover up the anchor? Clever girl.
Next, I took three sticky note pages, rounded the corners and glued down some of my favorite pictures of my son and I at the beach in Hawaii. I then grabbed some more sticky notes, cut out the anchors and repositioned them on top of the pictures for a little layering action. Ooh-la-la
I noticed the sticky notes were a little too thin for the photos so I mounted them on some white cardstock. Then I attached the photos pages on the album page with washi tape. I stacked them on top of each other to make a mini flip album. Wait! an album within an album…its like albumception!
And that’s it!
I did want to quickly show how you can really do anything with the pages.
Here I made an album shaker page with some memory cards.
Here I made an album page that is a push pull card with my ten favorite things about our trip to Hawaii.
This is a super fun way to get some memory keeping done and it’s a fun to display!

Hey all, Sabrina here! This week I will be sharing with you how to create a laminated checklist dashboard. Don’t worry if you don’t have a laminator there is no need to go out and buy one because I’ve got an easy solution for you.
Supplies needed are:
1- Scotch Self-Seal Laminating Pouches [any other brand works too]
1- Piece of Design Paper
Checklist Stickers
Decorative Stickers
Hole Punch
Dry eraser marker
Let’s start by taking our design paper and cutting it a size that will fit into the planner you are using- this sheet is from the PopFizzPaper May Planner Kit in the floral watercolor design. I will be creating this dashboard to fit inside The Happy Planner and since my handwriting is on the larger size my dashboard is going to be about 8 in x 10 in almost the same size as a Happy Planner cover. I know it’s not exactly a dashboard size but the sizing is up to you; a good suggested size could be 6 in x 7 in.
Once the cutting is complete and you’ve got your perfect size next is the fun part- decorating! Time to get creative and personal here by placing down the stickers where you would like them to go. My dashboard will be used as daily to-do list divided into 3 categories of what I would typically do during my day; “to go”, “to do”, and “to clean”. What’s great about this laminated dashboard is that it’s reusable meaning you can create a quick list in the morning of what needs to be done for the day and if you change your mind about something all you have to do it wipe it off the list. It’s not a permanent task for the day so you can do that task tomorrow or even another day of the week.
I love the “I am too busy” sticker from the Fries before Guys Quote collection that was in the June PFP Faves Planner Kit. It makes for the perfect title for my dashboard which is centered at the top of my page and I’ve also added a couple hearts and butterflies next to the wording just to add a little more cuteness. Next I’ve taken a rainbow appointment label and added an icon to the left corner and lined those below the quote sticker spaced about 1.5 in apart from each other. Take your checklists and place them vertically below your appointment labels. It’s up to you how many checklists you want to use and how many categories you’d like to have. You can stop here if you’d like but I’ve went ahead and personalized it a little more. Below those checklists I’ve horizontally placed a habit sticker with an icon sticker, a pill/vitamin sticker, an appointment label with an icon sticker, and a few TV stickers below those. I plan to use the habit sticker for my weekly work outs and the appointment label for my dogs whether it's a reminder to groom, bathe, or to take them to the dog park.
If your dashboard is smaller than 8 in x 10 in then cut the laminated pouch to the correct size before putting the design paper inside. Once you’ve places all your stickers onto your design paper and have cut the pouch to size go ahead and just slip that design sheet right into the self-sealing laminating pouch and seal. Be careful with these laminating sheets you want to carefully seal the pouch without any bubbles so make sure you seal slowly. These Scotch laminated pouches come with instructions on how to use these so read that before beginning. Trim off any excess laminating paper and that’s it- it’s that simple! Feel free to double laminate your dashboard by slipping it into another pouch and repeating this same process if you want a thicker insert.
Lastly, grab your hole punch! If you don’t own a Happy Planner Paper Punch, it’s okay just remove your cover from your planner and place it over the laminating pouch using that as your guide. Use your dry eraser pen and mark your holes, punch a single hole on your marks, and then make slits wide enough depending on the type of rings your planner has.
Fill in your dashboard and put it right into your planner! This is really easy and it doesn’t take too long to create. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial- if you create a checklist dashboard we’d love to see it so make sure you tag @popfizzpaper and myself in the picture on Instagram!

Hey, Sabrina here! Have any of you heard of a Squash book? Well if you haven’t keep reading this post and I’ll be showing and explaining how to make one. Like many of you I like to watch random craft videos on YouTube and I came across a Squash book. I thought to myself “Wow, that’s cool it kind of reminds me of a flip book” but more accordion you can squish together.
Let’s get into to how to make one of these …
First, gather all your supplies! I have already precut all my papers to size and gathered everything I plan on using which you can see in the photo below.
Materials needed:
Paper cutter or scissors
Pencil
Double sided tape, glue stick or adhesive tape [any of the three will work]
3- cardboard or thick paper 8 in x 8 in [Square shaped]
2- Design Paper 5 ½ in x 5 ½ in [Square shaped]
4- Design Paper 4 in x 4 in [Square shaped]
8-24 - Design Paper 3 ¾ x 3 ¾ in [Right Triangle shaped]
Stickers, die-cuts, lace, gift tag or whatever accessories you want to decorate with
I will be explaining to you how to create this book by the colors of the papers I used in the photos. That way there is no confusion.
1. Let’s start by getting your 3 cardboard or thick papers and cutting 3 perfect 8 in x 8 in squares of card. I'm using 3 black papers. It’s important to make the squares accurately so that the book folds properly. Take one of those papers and fold it in half vertically from right to left then flip it over and fold it again the same way. You want to have four squares when you’re done. Fold it corner-to-corner diagonally to form a triangle. Do the same thing to the other two papers.
2. Lay the three pieces of paper with a diagonal folds going vertically and the middle of the card overlapping one corner-square of each of the other two.
4. Squeeze in the corners of the outer pieces of card. Just push the top and bottom corners along the diagonal fold lines and press down firmly. Keeping the folds tucked in, turn the whole thing over and now squeeze in on the remaining diagonal lines. Press down on the whole lot and you should have a square book- put something on top of it to stop it all from springing out again!
Next is to make the covers.
1. Cut 2 squares of whatever paper you want to use for your book, I just used the two Design Paper that are cut 5 ½ in x 5 ½ in from the June PFP Fave Planner Kit you could use a mount board or thicker cardboard- or maybe stick two pieces of card together to get a sturdier cover. Make the sides 2 cm bigger all around, fold down the sides to make the mitered corners- it’s easier to form the shape before you apply the glue or tape.
2. Center the black folded part of the card inside all the edges of the cover- remember the actual book pages are slightly smaller than the cover. Carefully line up the cover and the back of your book and stick down firmly. Repeat the sticking process with the back cover- if you are using a paper with a “one-way” design you’ll need to match up the patterns nicely on the two covers.
1. I decorated my cover first by cutting some design paper and sticking it down on top of a plain gift tag then I added some lace, a die-cut piece, some heart puffy stickers and a bow to make my tag even cuter. I added two strips of lace to the bottom of the tag just because I love lace. Then I just added some decorated stickers that also came from the June PFP Fave Planner Kit- the motivational “Mega Babe” and “get it girl” stickers and some puffy heart stickers. Cover is done!
2. Inside of your card is completely up to you on how you want to design it whether it’s a themed card for a gift or just a memorable keepsake for yourself. Mine is a gift for my best friend who is graduating from college! I used four [4 in x 4 in] PFP Fave design papers that were double sided and glued them down on the four center squares. I grabbed my triangle pre-cut pieces and added those to the corners of the top and bottom folded squares.
3. I added some puffy heart stickers throughout and my toddler drew some art work that I added to the square pieces using the polka dot washi tape that came in the PFP Fave Planner Kit. But feel free to add photos, stickers, die-cuts, or whatever your heart desires. And, that’s it!
Here is what my complete book looks like with everything added ...
I hope you liked this book idea and will want to have a go at making one for yourself, they are fun to make and even more fun to share. I’d love to hear what you think and if you make one of these books I’d love to see yours so make sure you tag me on Instagram or Facebook in your photo.

Hello Hello Everyone! It’s Juanita here and boy oh boy do I have something fun to share with you. I don’t know about you but I was completely inspired by the June planner kit that we received this month. I wanted to make something fun and girlie and this is exactly what I had in mind.
Yes folks, I have taken on the woven hot air balloon that has haunted my Pinterest feed for the last three years. Check out the PaperMatrix website for templates and tutorials on how to make this wonderful little hot air balloon.
But lets talk about the rest of the card before we get to the hot air balloon. I grabbed some items from the planner kit that really spoke to me and I added some other items from my craft stash.
I started by taking the description card from the kit folding it in half and adding a white glitter piece of scrap cardstock. The adorable white and gold foil polka-dot washi was used to line the edges and create a cute shinny frame.
Next, I grabbed another scrap of white glitter cardstock and decorated it with the hearts from the decorative sheet and added some dots from the headers and flags sheet. I picked my favorite quote from the decorative sheet and mounted it on the black and white polka-dot paper.
I used 3D foam dots to attach the quote to the decorative scrap paper. I then glued the whole thing to the card.
Inspiration didn’t stop there. Oh no! I created a banner using the teeny tiny oh so small flags from the header and flag sheet. I used twisted washi tape to make a rope to attach the flags to the card. I think it turned out pretty cute!
Now we get to the hot air balloon. This thing was a beast! My original idea for this post was to do a tutorial on how to make this balloon. But honestly it can really only be done as a video. So, if you want to see a tutorial on how to make the hot air balloon please leave a comment! I would love to take the time to show you guys how this can be done because yes, it can be done.
To finish off the card I attached the hot air balloon with more 3D foam tape. So, its kinda like a pop up card/display for the adorable sticky notes that were included in June’s kit. Plus, the gem pen just brings the whole thing together. And it’s Fabulous!!!
Happy Crafting!

I'm Sabrina and I'm so excited to show y'all how to create an awesome card for any occasion. No need to spend $3.99 or more on a Hallmark card that just gets stuffed away in a drawer or worst … thrown away. Whomever you are creating this card for is going to love this card so much that it's going to be displayed on their desk or on a fridge because unlike a Hallmark card this card is created by YOU and with so much love! This is such a simple and quick tutorial all you need are a few items which I'm sure y'all have lying around in your craft boxes or in your desks. The best part about creating a card is you can use whatever you want to make it special. Let's get started...
Here are the supplies you'll need:
Cardstock (any color and make sure it’s a little thick)
Patterned Paper (I'm using watercolor lilac flowers from the May PopFizzPaper Planner Kit)
6x6 in decorative paper
Pencil
4 brads (Use a color that will match your card)
Scissors (I’m using Craftsmart Decorative scissors)
A ruler
Decorative lace or ribbon
Die cut pieces (I’ll be using a mix of My Art C and Heidi Swapp)
Adhesive tape, glue stick and double sided tape
Stickers (I will be using Mambi stickers, Recollections dimensional alphabet stickers, and decorative stickers from the May PopFizzPaper Planner Kit)
Before I even start any project I like to choose a theme and spread everything that I may be using out on the table that way I can see everything I will be working with. Now if you’re like me this is not all that’s going to be used, I will probably be going back and forth inside my craft boxes to find more items to use. Since it’s graduation season the theme of this card is … Graduation! But you can choose any theme you'd like whether it's for a graduation, birthday, wedding, get well, etc.. I am making this card for my cousin who is graduating from High School next month and I want it to be an inspirational card for her.
First step: I'm going to be keeping the size of this cardstock which is about 5.5 in x 8.5 in. I’m going to measure my decorative [lilac] paper to be the exact size because I’m to just glue the lilac print right on top of that thicker cardstock. I’m going to get my smaller 6x6 in decorative paper and measure it at 4 x 5 in size to fit the center of my card. [The “dream big” decorative paper is from Heidi Swapp’s Minc collection.]
Second step: I then used my decorative scissors to cut my dream decorative paper to size however I didn’t like the way the scissors cut the edges it didn’t come out as precise as I wanted it to. But no worries, just grab a piece of lace or ribbon and place that around the edges. I hole punched the four corners, measured 2 strips that were 4 in and 2 strips that were 5 in, laid those along the proper edges and secured the corners down with 4 cute, purple brads. Grab some double sided tape roll a piece and add to all four sides this is going to create a 3 dimensional look for the center of the card.
Third step: This is the fun step that we all wait for … decorating! This step you can get as creative as you want; just be you and have fun. I pulled out some Mambi stickers, Recollections Alphabet stickers, PopFizzPaper May decorative stickers, some die cuts and adhesive tape. I placed everything down on the card first before taping or gluing it down this way I can move pieces around as I please. I’m thinking it looks pretty cute BUT it’s not perfect. Remember when I said in the beginning I’m more in likely going to go back into my craft box … well that’s what I did here. I found some other die cuts pieces that just gave this card a better flow.
Final step: Yep, this was definitely missing something and I think this little blue dollies die cut just completed my entire card! Here it is the final look, I think it came out simply perfect! I didn’t want this to look like a simple folded card I think this flat lay out is perfect for displaying on a cork board, corner of a mirror, in a binder, on the fridge, etc.
I hope y’all enjoyed this simple DIY and if you create a special card tag me in the comments or photo, I’d love to see your fabulous creations!
