Working with a Personal Sized Hourly Planner

Today’s blog is all about using stickers on your hourly inserts for your personal planner(s). Personal planner inserts in my opinion are really small pages so you can’t write big or have too large of stickers on it because it’ll take up a vast majority of your space which will look cluttered. What allows me to be able to use stickers on such a small space is using mini stickers along with a few regular sized functional stickers. I don’t use full boxes and only half boxes when I have something important and I have the space for it. Using hourly inserts you have consider what will fit and what you need to use for that specific day because you're scheduling your day by the hour.
First, go through your collection and grab all your minis and functional stickers. I know I took out a lot of stickers in the above photo and I may not use them all but for me it’s convenient to have them all out anyways so I’m not having to go back and forth in my collection trying to find stickers. Now that you have your stickers all out it’s time for the FUN part … can you guess what that is? Decorating time!
Placement is key; it’s very important that you look you at your sheet and decided first what you’re doing for that day and grab those functional stickers first before anything else. So in my planner I like to have a horizontal “This Week” insert on my left side and my right side have my hourly sheet. You’re probably looking at my photo thinking “Girl, I thought this was a post about hourly planning.” It is … I promise! I do this for extra space and because I like to see what else I have going on during the week. Plus, my hourly sheet stops at 9:30 PM [like most do] which is early for me because I’m a night owl and I don’t go to sleep until really late in the AM so I need an extra sheet so I can write down what other things I have to do later in the evening. You can even place a lined paper or graph paper on the left side if you want or just have your hourly insert it’s totally up to you and your planning style.
On a typical work day my schedule may look something like the photo above. Early mornings for work I need a “wake me up” sticker so this PopFizzPaper “Treat Yourself” mug will always be the first sticker to start my day. Next to it I'll add what I'm doing while I'm having my morning drink. I use a header sticker to block out the times I’ll be working so in this example it’s from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm; yay for short days! If your schedule is longer stick another header right below the one you just laid down. I put my header to the far right because that day I have a meeting so I need the space to write in next to the time it’s happening. If there is no meeting or nothing else important that needs to be submitted or attended, I’ll then add the header down the middle. I continued plugging in more stickers next to the times that I need to do something until I got to the bottom. Check it out even label stickers fit on either column; awesome right! I love those labels with the boots on them to mark for when I go rock climbing or even just to take my dogs to the dog park. On the left side column on the top; I use stickers to remind me of things I NEED “To Do” like using the “Hair Appt” to remind me to make an appointment and on the bottom half I like to add a fun journal prompt question [in the middle] and try to find a sticker that matches my answer just for fun. As well as things that I NEED to do later that evening after 9:30 PM like using that dollar sign to remind me to pay a bill and that “change air filter”. On my horizontal “This Week” sheet I add whatever else doesn’t fit on my hourly sheet basically anything else after 9:30 PM that I want or need to do like using that bath tub sticker and TV sticker.
Now that I have all my stickers down I’m able to go in and write things down. The reason I don’t write things down before I place my stickers is in case I decided I need to swap a sticker around or I just change my mind and I don’t want a particular sticker it’s easier to remove a sticker and replace it with another one or remove it all together than it is to correct your writing mistakes. You don’t want a bunch of white-out on your paper, do you? I know I don’t. The above photo I placed all my stickers down and I filled it all in. I’m all done planning just need to stick these inserts back into my planner.
See you can do this too to your personal sized hourly inserts! So, get to planning and once you’re finished we want to see how cute your page came out so make sure you show us by tagging PopFizzPaper on Instagram and come post it on the PopFizzPaper Fans Facebook group so we can all heart it.
